An email address and a phone number are the two things that connect an account to a person. Services use them to verify, to recover, to suggest friends and to send receipts. If the same ones appear in your private life and in your creator work, the two are linked, however careful everything else is. That is why a separate email for OnlyFans, and a separate number, matter more than almost any other step. This walkthrough shows how to set them up and keep them apart.

The email address

  1. 1

Pick a provider you do not use for anything else

A different provider from your personal one is cleaner, because browsers and phones often offer to switch between accounts of the same provider in one click.

  2. 2

    Choose a neutral address

No part of your real name, birth year, town or employer. It does not need to match your stage name exactly, but it should not contradict it.

  3. 3

    Skip the personal recovery address

This is where most slips happen. Recovery options that point to a personal address or number quietly join the two accounts. Use a recovery method that belongs to the work setup, or use recovery codes stored offline.

  4. 4

    Switch on two step verification

An authenticator app or a security key, not a text message sent to a number connected to your name.

  5. 5

Keep it in its own space

Sign in only inside your work browser profile or work device, so that your personal accounts never appear in the “choose an account” list.

The phone number

There are three common options. None is perfect, so the choice depends on what you value.

OptionCostReliability for verificationPrivacy
A second SIM or an eSIMUsually a small monthly feeAccepted almost everywhereGood, if registered with care
A calling or messaging app numberLowSome services refuse these numbersDepends on the provider’s own policies
A dedicated prepaid phoneThe price of a phone and creditAccepted almost everywhereVery good, if kept apart
A rough comparison. Prices and rules vary by country and provider.

Whatever you choose, test it before you rely on it. Create the work email, then confirm that the platforms you need accept the number for verification.

How numbers and addresses leak

  • Address books. If the work number is saved in someone’s contacts, many messaging apps show them the profile name and picture. Never save it under your real name in a family phone.
  • Contact discovery. Social networks suggest accounts from phone numbers and emails. Switch off “find me by phone or email” on every work account.
  • Receipts and invoices. Subscription receipts go to the address you used. Use the work address for everything linked to the work.
  • Shared devices. A work email signed in on a family computer remains signed in after you leave.

These slips are rarely about carelessness. They come from convenience: an app that offers to sync your contacts, a browser that offers to remember a password. The wider picture is in keeping your work private from family and colleagues, and the idea behind all of it is explained in faceless content: what it is and how it works.

Quick audit

  • The work email has a recovery method that belongs to the work setup only.
  • Two step verification is on, and it does not use a personal number.
  • The work number is not saved under my real name in anyone’s phone.
  • Contact discovery is switched off on every work account.
  • The work email never appears in my personal browser or phone.

What to do if the two have already touched

It happens. Do not panic, and do not delete anything yet. Make a list of where the work address or number appears, then change one thing at a time: the recovery method first, then the logins, then the old address. Our clean setup checklist gives the order, and protecting your accounts covers the passwords.

Questions and answers

Can I use my normal phone number?

It is better not to. A normal number is saved in other people’s phones, and it is connected to your name through your phone contract.

Is a virtual number safe?

It can be, but some services refuse certain virtual numbers when they verify an account. Test it with the services you need before you depend on it.

Do I need a separate email for every platform?

One work address is enough to start. Some creators add one per platform, which limits the damage if a single address is ever exposed.

Should the email match my stage name?

It does not need to match, and it should never contain your real name. A neutral address is safer than a clever one.
